The Fredonia College Foundation is accepting proposals for the Williams Visiting Professorship.

The endowed fund held by the Fredonia College Foundation was established in 1998 by H. Kirk and Nancy Williams.

Mr. Williams is the former owner and publisher of the Dunkirk Evening Observer. He was named Chairman of the Fredonia College Council in 1968 and when he stepped down upon his move to Florida in 1996, Mr. Williams was one of the longest serving chairmen in SUNY history. Mr. Williams was also the recipient of the Career Service Award and Distinguished Service Award presented by the Association of Council Members and Council Trustees of SUNY in 1988, the Fredonia College Foundation's Distinguished Service Award in 1986, the SUNY Chancellor's Council Service Award in 1995, and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the State University of New York in 2000. In his honor and in recognition of his service and contributions to Fredonia, Campus Center was dedicated as the Williams Center in 1996.

The purpose of the fund is to bring to campus individuals who are noted for excellence in a particular discipline or profession and who have demonstrated achievement that transcends a single field of study.

Funding requests for the following semesters will be considered: Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027, Spring 2028 and Fall 2028.

Approximately $70,000 will be available during this award cycle.

The deadline submission is March 20, by close of business. The application can be accessed here.
