The Fredonia State volleyball team earned its second SUNYAC sweep of the weekend, taking down Oswego 3-0 on Saturday. The Devils won the sets by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 27-25.
Bria Hunter led the offense with nine kills and Kylie O'Brien added eight. Sasha Zayatz had the hot hand at the service line collecting six aces. Maeve Musielak added three aces and a team-high 16 digs. Molly Cassidy had 14 assists and Olivia Boswell added 12.
In the first set, things looked good for the Lakers as they held a 6-5 lead. The Blue Devils kicked it in gear with the next 10 points. Zayatz served for the final nine of those points, including three aces.
The second set was back and forth. The Devils held a 16-15 lead. Zayatz stepped up to the service line again and helped the Devils to the next nine points to end the match, 25-15. Fittingly, the set ended with an ace by Zayatz.
The Lakers took Fredonia State to the edge in the third and final set. Up 25-24 and needing just one point, they could not close out. Fredonia State scored the final three points — a pair of attack errors by the Lakers and a kill by Hunter ended the match.
Oswego entered the day undefeated in the conference, and now stands at 5-1 in the SUNYAC, and 17-5 overall.
The Devils are now 3-2 in the SUNYAC and 8-12 overall.
The Devils head to Potsdam and Plattsburgh next weekend.
