Bullock named head coach of women's basketball

Fredonia State Director of Athletics P.J. Gondek has announced the hiring of Nicole Bullock as the new head coach of the Blue Devil women's basketball program. Bullock arrives in Fredonia with more than 15 years of coaching and leadership experience spanning NCAA Division II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, and high school basketball.

"We are excited to welcome Nicole to our coaching staff," Director of Athletics P.J. Gondek said. "She brings a wealth of experience, and we look forward to her leading our women's basketball program as we begin the 2026-2027 season"

Most recently, Bullock served as head women's basketball coach and athletics travel coordinator at Hilbert College from 2021 to 2026. In that role, she directed all aspects of the Hawks' NCAA Division III program, including recruiting, player development, game preparation, budgeting, fundraising, compliance, and program administration. She also coordinated travel arrangements and logistics for the entire athletic department.

During her tenure at Hilbert, Bullock guided the Hawks to three Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference playoff appearances in five seasons, including a trip to the conference Final Four in 2023. Her teams hosted a first-round playoff game in 2022, and she coached the AMCC Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. Bullock also maintained a 100 percent student-athlete graduation rate during her time leading the program.

Prior to Hilbert, Bullock spent two seasons as head women's basketball coach and game day administrator at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota. While leading the NAIA program, she was responsible for all recruiting and program operations and taught the Theory of Coaching Basketball course during the Spring 2020 semester. At Presentation, she coached the North Star Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year and several all-conference and scholar-athlete selections while maintaining a 100 percent graduation rate among her student-athletes.

Bullock also served as head women's basketball coach and student senate advisor at Iowa Lakes Community College from 2011 to 2015. There, she directed all recruiting, training, scouting, and community outreach efforts for the NJCAA Division II program. Her teams produced five All-Region XI honorees and multiple academic award recipients while sustaining a 100 percent student-athlete graduation rate.

Her collegiate coaching experience additionally includes three seasons as assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Adams State College. During that period, the program recorded the best overall record of its NCAA Division II era at 23-10, earned back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, reached the first Sweet Sixteen in program history, and developed a WBCA Division II All-American Honorable Mention. The team also led the NCAA in rebounding margin for two consecutive seasons.

Beyond the collegiate ranks, Bullock has held leadership positions at both the youth and high school levels. Since 2017, she has served as a scholarship coordinator, coach, and tournament site supervisor for Minnesota Heat, overseeing youth scholarship programs and tournament operations. She was also head varsity girls' basketball coach at Irondale High School in Minnesota and Kearny High School in California.

Bullock earned a Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology/Biomechanics from San Diego State University, where she served as a teaching and graduate assistant in the biomechanics laboratory. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Southwest Minnesota State University. A four-year member of the women's basketball team, she served as team captain and helped lead the program to two conference championships and two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. She was also a three-time NSIC Academic All-Conference selection.

At Fredonia State, Bullock will assume leadership of a Blue Devil program as it prepares for the 2026-27 season.
