Carroll named new Director of Human Resources

Maria Carroll, SUNY Fredonia's new Director of Human Resources.

Maria Carroll has been named Director of Human Resources at SUNY Fredonia, effective June 1.

In her new position, Carroll will oversee all aspects of human resources at the university, including employee relations, recruitment and employment, training efforts, classification, compensation and benefits, performance evaluations, and worker's compensation and leave programs.

“Maria brings a wealth of experience and unique skills to this important campus role,” said Vice President for Finance and Administration Michael Metzger. “We are confident Maria will be a tremendous addition to the Fredonia campus as she leads our human resources operations and activities.”

Carroll brings more than a decade of human resources and legal experience to SUNY Fredonia. She most recently served as the Senior Human Resources business partner at Anthology (formerly Campus Labs). Prior to this, Carroll spent several years in the Human Resources office at Erie Community College. She has previously worked at law firms in the Buffalo region.

“I am thrilled to join the team at SUNY Fredonia,” said Carroll. “Supporting faculty and staff to help students achieve their educational goals is such an honor. I look forward to our work ahead.”

A Hamburg resident, Carroll holds a doctoral degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University at Buffalo.
