Four seniors majoring in Computer Science have completed their term project sponsored by Paychex.

Alexander G. Scalcione, of Endicott, NY; Liam J. Walsh of Lake View, NY; Timothy Doan of  Dunkirk, NY;  and Zachary J. Stofko of Kennedy, NY, presented their work to Paychex senior management and Fredonia management and faculty on May 5. Mr. Scalcione also has minors in Communication and Web Programming.

The team from Paychex, a benefits, human resources and payroll company, included Andrea Brown, William House and Jeremy Oser. Faculty mentor for the project was Associate Professor Syed Ali Haider of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.

Students undertook a project centered on Active Directory (AD), where they developed a tool to automate permission configuration. The solution was designed to streamline the onboarding process for new employees and expedite permission updates for existing staff.

"The students performed exceptionally well on the project, surpassing our expectations and demonstrating strong teamwork. Throughout the process, they gained valuable insights into contemporary software development practices,” Dr. Haider said.

Through the project, students gained exposure to new technologies, deepening their understanding of the subject matter while also offering valuable insight into real-world software development.
