SUNY Fredonia announces the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) on campus.

The program, supported by grant funding through the New York State Education Department, seeks to assist eligible students enrolled in majors relating to STEM and the licensed professions.

Students who are planning on becoming a psychologist, a STEM teacher, a scientist, an engineer, a computer programmer, or something else within this category of careers, should explore CSTEP.

Students who enroll within the CSTEP program will be able to receive a variety of support and academic enrichment opportunities. Some of the program benefits include:

  • Club Meetings: Provides a common meeting time to discuss current STEM topics, conduct experiments, and hear from guest speakers
  • Tutoring: One-on-one or group support
  • Workshops: Study Skills, Interviewing Skills, Resume Writing, etc.
  • Career Development Services: Assistance applying for graduate school and jobs
  • Mentoring: Assistance with study skills, organization, and time management
  • Research Projects: Work directly with SUNY Fredonia professors to develop high quality research
Internships: Gain direct, hands-on experience in your field
  • Field Trips/Manufacturing Tours: See the technology that powers local manufacturing, first-hand

Since STEM fields are uniquely challenging, with rigorous mathematics and science requirements, having CSTEP additional support and enrichment can make earning a degree a little less daunting.

For more information on how to join CSTEP, and how the program can help students throughout their college careers, please reach out to Zachary Dean, assistant project director, at dean2787@fredonia.edu or stop by Thompson Hall Room E243 or Room E241.
