Dahlgren to lead ‘Lies My Teacher Told Me’ discussion

The best-selling book “Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong” will be at the forefront of a discussion and interactive dialogue of the work of historian James W. Loewen that social studies education Professor Robert Dahlgren will lead on Tuesday, Jan. 25, from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

Mr. Loewen’s award-winning book, originally published in 1995, critically examines popular American high school history textbooks.

The Zoom session, held in collaboration with the Buffalo-Niagara chapter of the League of Women Voters, is being presented in light of current challenges to the academic freedom of social studies teachers.
