Devils celebrate volleyball seniors

The Fredonia State volleyball team recognized its two seniors -- Kourtney Krchniak and Madeline Reid -- before their final home game at Dods Hall on Saturday. Unfortunately, the Devils would fall 3-0 to Houghton. The Devils dropped the sets 25-22, 26-24, and 25-22.

Kourtniak led the team with 24 assists, two blocks, and one ace. Amaya Lewczyk topped the Devils with 10 kills. Defensively, Gabrielle Sordetto led the team with 18 digs.

The Devils end the season with a 4-20 mark, while the Highlanders wrap things up at 9-13.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
