Devils fall in series finale

Kenny Ynoa tossed 2 1/3 innings of relief.

The Fredonia State baseball team dropped Game 3 of its season-opening SUNYAC series to Brockport, 10-2. Tyler Phillips led the Devils with a pair of hits, including a triple, and an RBI.

Johnny Genau led off the game with a single. He advanced to second on a wild pitch, was sacrificed to third, and scored on a single by Phillips.

Brockport used a three-run homerun by Tom Kretzler in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead. Brockport also scored four in the fourth and three in the seventh to total its10 runs. 

The Devils tacked on a run in the sixth. Jake Wentland singled and Tylor Murphy doubled. Ryan Hann ripped a base hit to score Wentland, but Murphy was out at the plate to end the threat.

The Devils fall to 9-8 on the season, while Brockport improves to 13-2.

The Fredonia State men's track and field team had its final tune-up before the SUNYAC meet, taking part in the University of Rochester Spring Twilight Meet. Quillan Shimp took the podium, finishing first place in the 400m hurdles.

On April 25, Dods Hall on the campus of SUNY Fredonia was home to the annual Dunkirk-Fredonia Unified Basketball Game. In front of a raucous crowd, the two teams battled it out for four quarters.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.
