Devils improve to 4-0, Alexander named All-Tournament

The Fredonia State women's basketball team let Keuka hang around a little while before exploding for 31 points in the third quarter, cruising to an 84-65 victory at the Main BBQ Tipoff Tournament hosted by Brockport. 

The Devils, now 4-0, outscored Keuka by 18 points in the third, 31-13. Freshman Grace Alexander had her second 20-point game as a Blue Devil, finishing with an even 20, and had a team-high six assists, earning All-Tournament honors.

Sarah Seaman added 15 off the bench, and Allie Wandell (12 points) and Caitlin Snyder (10 points) scored double digits for the second night in a row. Wandell grabbed eight rebounds.

Both teams started well offensively, with the Devils finding themselves up 19-17 after a quarter of play. 

The Devils heated up more in the second quarter, shooting 10-19 (53 percent) from the floor, outscoring Keuka, 22-14, in the frame, building a 10-point lead by the half. The longball was working as the Devils went 5-11 from downtown in the first half. 

In the third quarter, the Devils got even hotter and sizzled the nets, shooting 13-18 (72 percent) from the floor, including 5-7 from three-point range. The Devils would finish the game going 10-22 on three balls -- Alexander going 4-5 and Seaman shooting 3-6. The Devils found themselves up by 28 points, 72-44 at the end of three. 

The Devils had the game in hand when Keuka closed the gap in the fourth quarter, outscoring Fredonia State 21-12.

Alexander would finish the two-day tourney with 35 points, 10 assists, and would go 7-11 on three point attempts. 

Sydney Brown led Keuka with 15 points, and Mary Cotter had 10.

The Devils have 10 days off to enjoy the holiday until the team's next game on Nov. 28 vs. John Carroll.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
