Payton Gilbert led the Fredonia State women's basketball team with 10 points and 12 rebounds as they evened their SUNYAC record at 1-1 with a 57-51 win over Oneonta on Saturday. Grace Alexander and Kyla Smith each added nine points.
With the Devils holding a three-point lead, Oneonta's Emma Schwarzbeck nailed a three to tie the game at 51-all with 1:20 showing on the clock.
Gilbert made a layup on the next possession, and Fredonia State would hit four of six free throws down the stretch while not allowing a point to hang on for the win.
The Devils held a 37-29 edge in rebounds. Mary Culeton led the Devils with eight boards.
Oneonta was led by Amanda Zuntag with 15 points.
The Devils improve to 4-3 overall and travel to Houghton on Wednesday.
