The Fredonia State women's swim team had its first home meet since February of 2019, and held tough with visiting William Smith College. The Devils claimed first in eight of the 16 events, with Mindy Doktor taking home three individual races and a relay.

Here's a look at the first-place finishers:

Mindy Doktor, 50 butterfly, :29.39; 100 free, :58.53; and 100 butterfly, 1:04.68
McKayla Polowy, 500 free, 5:39.39; and 1,000 free, 11:41.77
Lauren Ditchey, 100 breaststroke, 1:16.63
Kayla Hagen, 50 free, 26.39
Hagan, Doktor, Ditchey, Lena Nakken, 200 medley relay, 2:01.17

The Devils return to the Steele Hall Natatorium on Oct. 30 to take on SUNY Buffalo State.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
