Five alumni, two teams to be inducted into Athletics Hall of Fame

The Fredonia State Department of Athletics will induct five members into its Hall of Fame during Homecoming Weekend.

Included will be Fredonia High School graduate Katie Bartkowiak (Women's Softball). Bartkowiak graduated from Fredonia State in 2013. Other athletes include Michael Domm (Men's Soccer, 1999); Megan (Mietelski) Michele (Women's Lacrosse, 2012); Ryan Fuller (Swimming and Diving, 2012); and Becky (Hebert) Clark (Women's Basketball, 2014).

The induction ceremonies are slated for Saturday, Oct. 19. Both the volleyball team and the men's soccer team will have home contests that day.

The Teams of Distinction are the 1984 and 1985 Men's Track and Field Teams, and the 2008 Women's Volleyball Team. Here's a look at those to be inducted:

INDIVIDUALS

Michael Domm - Men's Soccer, 1999
One of the top offensive players to ever wear a Blue Devil uniform, Domm was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year in 1997 and was First Team All-SUNYAC in 1996 and 1997. He was named Second Team All America in 1996 and Third Team in 1997. On the Blue Devils' all-time list, Domm ranks among season leaders in points (60, first), goals (23, first and 18, fourth), and assists (14, second). Among career leaders, he ranks second in points (98) and goals (41) and ninth in assists. Domm led the team to a No. 1 ranking for much of the 1996 season, and the team went on to the NCAA Tournament in 1996 and 1997. He would then play professionally for the Rochester Rhinos.

Megan (Mietelski) Michele - Women's Lacrosse, 2012
Michele capped he career being named First Team All American in 2012. A four-time All-SUNYAC selection, Michele was named to the First Team for her final three seasons after garnering Second Team as a freshman. Regional honors include First Team and Defender of the Year as a senior, and Second Team as a junior. She ranks No. 3 in caused turnovers (102) and No.5 in draw controls (172). She helped lead the lacrosse team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance when the Blue Devils played host to St. John Fisher following the 2012 season. In the classroom, she earned the SUNYAC Chancellor's Award for Women's Lacrosse and was a member of the SUNYAC All Academic Team.

Ryan Fuller - Men's Swimming and Diving, 2013
Fuller was the 1-meter and 3-meter SUNYAC Diving Champion during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, earning him the SUNYAC Male Diver of the Meet both seasons. He earned two 2013 NCAA All-American certificates in springboard diving, finishing sixth off the 3-meter board, and 10th off the 1-meter board. Fuller was a Dean's List student three times and won the Excellence in Student Teaching Award in 2013. He was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta fraternity and the national Society for Leadership and Success.

Katie Bartkowiak - Softball, 2013
Bartkowiak was a three-time All-SUNYAC selection and conference Rookie of the Year in 2010. Her career numbers earned her a spot on the 2010-19 SUNYAC All-Decade Team. Regionally, she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Northeast Region First Team in 2011, and Second Team in 2012. She ranks No. 1 in several career categories: hits (175), stolen bases (56), batting average (.398), on-base percentage (.463), and hit-by-pitches (39). She ranks second in runs (116), homeruns (9), total bases (238), and slugging percentage (.541). Her .451 average as a freshman in 2010 is a school record.

Becky Clark (Hebert) - Women's Basketball, 2014
Clark still ranks No.1 on the team's career scoring list (1,604) and averaged a team-record 16.9 points per game for her career. In addition, she set the team record with 44 points in a game. A member of the SUNYAC's All-Decade Team, she was First Team in 2013-14, and Second Team in 2012-13 and 2011-12. She earned Honorable Mention All American status in 2013-14 and was First Team East Region by D3Hoops.com in her sophomore and senior seasons. Academically, Clark was the 2013 SUNYAC Chancellor's Award winner.

TEAMS OF DISTINCTION

1984-85 Men's Track and Field
The squads were the SUNYAC Champions for both Indoor and Outdoor for the 1984 and the 1985 seasons. The 1984 outdoor squad boasted five individual All Americans and one relay team. The 1985 team had four individuals recognized during the Indoor season, and two during Outdoor. 1984 men's track and field team

 The 1984 team won Indoor States   by a wide margin, scoring 129   points compared to 52 by second-   place Buffalo State.  Outdoor saw   them score 133 points to runner-   up Ithaca's 83, while finishing   seventh at Nationals. The 1985   team basically duplicated that   season, and finished fourth at nationals. Kym Orr won a National Title in the high jump during the Indoor season. Seven members of those teams are current Fredonia State Hall of Famers, and Orr still holds the NCAA Division 3 record in the high jump at 7'4.25.''

2008 Women's Volleyball
The team made it all the way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament after winning the SUNYAC regular season and playoff tournament titles. The team swept every conference match by 3-0 scores, and set a school mark of 29 wins. They beat two nationally-ranked teams -- Haverford and Stevens Tech -- in the NCAA Tournament. Kaitlin Erdman was named SUNYAC West MVP, Amy Bertrando and Alyssa Torpy earned First Team, and Chelsea Senn garnered Rookie of the Year honors. Leanne Maloney was named to the All-SUNYAC Second Team.

On April 25, Dods Hall on the campus of SUNY Fredonia was home to the annual Dunkirk-Fredonia Unified Basketball Game. In front of a raucous crowd, the two teams battled it out for four quarters.

Devils win two at The Wig

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.
