Fredonia State battled in tri-meet at Rochester

The Fredonia State Women's Swimming team competed in a tri-meet with the University of Rochester and Alfred University on Saturday afternoon. The meet took place in Rochester with Fredonia State tying Alfred 130-130. The Blue Devils fell to U of R.
 
Fredonia State's top finishers, in meet order, were:

McKayla Polowy (Silver Creek) – 1st in 1000 free, 11:09.74
Rachael Mayou (Palmyra) – 3rd in 1000 free, 11:35.30
Polowy – 2nd in 200 free, 2:07.81
Mayou – 2nd in 200 free, 2:09.41
Mindy Doktor (Akron, N.Y.) – 3rd in 200 free, 2:30.70
Kayla Hagen (Gasport) – 2nd in 200 backstroke, 2:21.84
Polowy – 2nd in 500 free, 5:35.47
Mayou – 3rd in 500 free, 5:38.50
Doktor – 2nd in 100 butterfly, 1:06.68
Lena Nakken (Islip) – 2nd in 200 IM, 2:30.23
 
Fredonia State returns to action on Dec. 3 as part of a two-day invite at Cortland State.

She was supposed to vault at Brockport, but the weather sent her to Westminster College in Pennsylvania. The change in venues did not deter Cara Pellechia on Saturday as she cleared 3.63m to set a new Fredonia State mark in the outdoor pole vault.

The Fredonia State men's track and field team had a strong showing this weekend at Westminster. The meet featured a number of Division I, II, and III schools. Cameron Sample had the top individual performance, a fourth place in the triple jump, and the 4x100 relay team took first place.

The Fredonia State softball team earned a series split against Plattsburgh and a sweep against Potsdam over the weekend to improve to 8-12 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC.
