Fredonia's Letmanski and Dyck receive PrestoSports weekly honors

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honored Fredonia's Matt Letmanski and Logan Dyck along with Plattsburgh's Cory Doney as the PrestoSports Men's Ice Hockey Athlete, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.

Fredonia was able to clinch a SUNYAC playoff spot with a 4-0 victory over Brockport, on Saturday. In this game Letmanski scored two of the team's four goals, with the first goal being the game winner. Letmanski finished the game with a plus three differential and had five shots on goal.

In Fredonia's' lone game of the weekend, Dyck was able to record a shutout on 28 saves. This shutout gave the Blue Devils the 4-0 victory and clinched a playoff spot within the conference. This is Dyck's third shutout of the season and first within SUNYAC play.

Doney notched two points on a goal and an assist in the Cardinals' 5-2 win over Potsdam on Friday. Doney gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead with a goal at 12:24 of the first period, and he had the secondary assist on Plattsburgh State's fourth goal at 3:24 of the third period. For the year, Doney has six points on three goals and three assists.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
