Steve Hallberg turned in an outstanding performance on his home course Friday, finishing fourth overall to lead the Fredonia men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Kara Hall Memorial Invitational.
Hallberg covered the 8-kilometer course in 26:24.9, posting the best finish among all SUNYAC runners in the field. Fredonia finished sixth among 13 scoring teams with 169 points and an average time of 27:45. SUNY Geneseo claimed the team title with 43 points, followed by Ithaca (78) and RIT (90).
The Blue Devils placed three runners in the top 50 overall. Behind Hallberg, Lucas Peterson-Volz crossed the line in 22nd place with a time of 27:11.6, while Edward Jourdan finished 43rd in 27:45.6.
Rounding out Fredonia's scoring five were freshman Finnegan Fadale, who placed 59th in 28:11.8, and Sean Moser, who came through in 85th place at 29:12.7. Kaden Worthley (29:57.5) and Adam Rick (31:01.6) completed the Blue Devils' top seven.
