Sembel Koshi

Sembel Koshi was the top Fredonia State runner at the SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Championship Meet on Saturday, propelling the Devils to a fourth-place finish. Koshi was 15th overall, and four other Devils finished in the Top 30. A total of 103 runners from 10 conference schools competed.

He finished the 8k race in 26:27.8. Ted Tomasello was three spots behind Koshi in 18th, timing out in 27:02.5.

Less than four seconds separated Tomasello and Josh Walters, who finished 21st in 27:06.3. Kyle Campbell (27:12.3) and Patrick Klinger (27:31.2) also pointed for Fredonia State.

Displacement runners were Ethan Pocock (28:49.5) and Sam Cottrell (29:22.0).

Geneseo took the team title, followed by Brockport and Cortland. The Devils finished ahead of 10th-place SUNY Buffalo State earning the Devils points in the Battle by the Lake.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
