Soccer players Chance LaCroix and Anna Ratchuk were named the Fredonia State Male and Female Athletes of the Week on Monday.
LaCroix led the Devils to a 3-0 week, while Ratchuk, a freshman, has burst onto the scene scoring in each of the Devils' home matches this past weekend.
LaCroix accounted for seven points with two goals and three assists -- all three on the game-winning goals. He assisted on the game winner in the 75th minute in a 4-3 win over Geneseo on Tuesday. He scored the first goal and assisted on the second in a 3-1 win over Alfred University on Friday. In a 4-0 win over Bryant & Stratton, he assisted on the first goal and scored the second.
Ratchuk scored a goal on both Friday and Saturday as the Devils tied both games in the Blue Devil Classic -- 2-2 vs. Utica, and 1-1 vs. Keuka.
Other Notables:
- Jacob Reynolds - Scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in a 4-3 win over Geneseo on Tuesday. He added a pair of assists in a 3-0 win over Bryant & Stratton on Saturday.
- Freddie Butler - Scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Alfred University, then struck a third time the next day in a 3-0 win over Bryant & Stratton.
- Thomas McDonald - Against Geneseo, he made eight saves, including several diving blocks in a 4-3 victory. He had five saves in a 3-1 win over Alfred University. McDonald did not allow a goal vs. Bryant & Stratton in a 3-0 win. He totaled 13 saves in 253 minutes for a 1.33 goals against average.
- Stephen Hallberg - ran a 16:24.3 in the 5K Brockport Invitational. He finished 28th overall, and 21st among college athletes.
- Lucy Prevet won her No. 1 singles match against Alfred University, 6-5 and 7-5.
