Vermont Poet Laureate Bianca Stone will present a craft talk and reading to students on Thursday, Oct. 23.

The author of “What is Otherwise Infinite” will give the talk and reading at the Cathy and Jesse Marion Art Gallery beginning at 7 p.m. in Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center. She will meet students enrolled in WRTG 362: Intermediate Poetry Writing, a core course in the Department of English’s Creative Writing minor. Her campus visit is part of the Mary Louise White lecture series.

Ms. Stone is the author of several poetry collections that include “What is Otherwise Infinite,” which received the 2022 Vermont Book Award. “The Near and Distant World” will be published by Tin House in January 2026.

Her poetry and writings have been widely published in magazines such as The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Poets and Writers, The Nation and the Best American Poetry series.

In 2013, Stone co-founded the poetry-based nonprofit, Ruth Stone House, where she organizes events and retreats and teaches classes on poetry and poetic study. She also hosts the Ode & Psyche Podcast.

Stone’s campus visit is supported by an endowment through the Fredonia College Foundation.
