Freshman pole vaulter Cara Pellechia competed in All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Meet on Friday, placing 13th.

The Hilton H.S. grad and Rochester native cleared 3.26m (10' 08 1/4'') at the meet held at The Armory in New York City. Pellechia had won the pole vault at the SUNYAC meet with a vault of 3.40m (11-1 ¾). She beat out all three other SUNYAC vaulters at the Regional Meet.

Pellechia open at 3.26m, which is the highest she has ever opened at. She cleared that on her second try. She was unable to get past 3.41m in three tries. Her official score of 3.26m could have tied her for ninth place, but by virtue of fewer jumps, she earned the 13th position.

The winning height of 3.86m (12' 8'') came from Ithaca's Meghan Matheny.

"I am very proud of her first indoor season," said Head Coach Tom Wilson. "Winning the title in a jump off, then opening up today at the highest she ever has at 3.26m. Very proud and excited for her future."
