Tori Poffenberger has been tabbed to take over the Fredonia State women's lacrosse program announced Athletics Director Jerry Fisk.

"After a national search, we are excited to hire Tori as our women's lacrosse head coach," said Fisk. "The Blue Devil women's lacrosse program has a proud history and we look forward to the work that will get us back to that level. Her enthusiasm and wanting to be great were evident throughout the search and gave us confidence in her ability to lead the program."

Poffenberger began her coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at her Alma Mater of St. Mary's (Maryland) for the 2016-17 seasons. She then moved on to the assistant coach at Boonsboro High School for three seasons before taking over as the head coach in 2019.

"Thank you to Jerry and the search committee," said Poffenberger "for giving me this opportunity. I'm really excited to be able to build a great program within an awesome SUNYAC Conference."

Poffenberger had a very successful playing career at St. Mary's College. Following her senior season, she was an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, Second team All-America, First Team All-Chesapeake Region, and First Team Capital Athletic Conference. She also made the Dean's List every semester and served as a SAAC rep for three years.

Poffnberger hopes to return the Fredonia State team to the national scene. The Devils made the NCAA Tournament in 2012, 2014, and 2015.
