Fredonia State Women's Basketball Team took on SUNYAC opponent, Oneonta in a home matchup on Sunday.

The Devils played a strong second half, but were unable to come back from the early deficit they found themselves in. The final score was 70-43. The Devils were led by Morgan Davis (8 Points, 4 Rebounds), Mackenna Nechwedowich (8 Points, 6 Rebounds), and Mary Culeton (9 Rebounds, 5 Assists).

Before the contest started, Fredonia State honored the four Seniors on their roster; Katie Pitcher, Katie Smith, Lauren Mickley, and Morgan Davis. All four athletes found themselves in the starting lineup, to kick off the game.

The first quarter was controlled by the Red Dragons on both ends of the court, as they took a 23-4 lead to start the game. The Blue Devils were unable to gain any momentum, as they shot 15% from the field and missed both of their three point opportunities in the quarter. The Devils suffered a huge loss after Pitcher left the game with an apparent ankle injury.

The second quarter was much of the same as Oneonta increased their the lead to 45-12. Fredonia State started to heat up from the field, increasing their shooting percentage in the quarter to 29%, but were still unable to find the range from deep.

In the third quarter Fredonia States defense came alive, holding Oneonta to only 11 points. The Blue Devils had 3 blocks and one steal within the quarter. While holding the Red Dragons to their lowest points in a quarter, the Devils were able to match the scoring with 11 points of their own.

The fourth quarters momentum shifted towards Fredonia State, as they came out firing on all cylinders. The Blue Devils were able to outscore the Red Dragons 16-14, on 46% from the field. Even with the Devils late fourth quarter rise, it was too large of a lead to come back from in such short time.
