Alyssa LeGrette, a senior from Canandaigua, NY, was named October Student of the Month by the Office of Residence Life.
A Visual Arts and New Media: Graphic Design major, Ms. LeGrette is also the president of Blue Devil Gaming and a student worker with Information Technology Services (ITS).
She has come a long way and even though she is only a student worker, it is as if I have an additional professional staff member which is a big help given the short staff situation.” - Mark Mackey
Working at ITS and Game Nights with Blue Devil Gaming is LeGrette’s favorite part of SUNY Fredonia. Her current plans are focused on graduating in December and then entering the job market.
“Alyssa has been working in the ITS Service Delivery Office for two years, and her knowledge has helped make our office successful,” said ITS Service Delivery Manager Mark Mackey, who nominated LeGrette for the award.
“She has come a long way and even though she is only a student worker, it is as if I have an additional professional staff member which is a big help given the short staff situation. She is also up on her studies; she's been able to take extra classes and will graduate a semester early.”
LeGrette also took over the Blue Devil Gaming Club when she first came to campus when it was barely a club and has turned it into a very successful club holding one to two events every week and having over 200 members.
The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community.
