Smith, Hilldale take pair of firsts

Riker Smith and Ian Hilldale won a pair of events, and Noah Wisniewski claimed one first place finish as the Devils took on Brockport in their final home swim meet of the semester.

Smith touched first in the 200 free (1:56.88) and the 200 IM (2:17.91). Hilldale won the 50 free in 23.53 and the 100 free in 50.51, edging out Smith who took second place in 54.14.

Noah Wisniewski's first came in the 100 back stroke in a time of 1:00.44.

Hilldale was second in the 100 fly in 58.77. He was just 0.65 seconds off the pace.

The Devils travel to Cortland next weekend for the final meet before the SUNYAC Championships.

Relay sets school mark

The 4 x 100 relay team of Cameron Sample, Jordan Lockett, Jacob Winn, and Nick Marsowicz set a new Fredonia State outdoor record, finishing the race in 42.19 seconds. It was a regional-qualifying time, and .17 seconds behind the first-place Cortland team.

Pellechia earns fourth SUNYAC title

For the fourth time in four tries, pole vaulter Cara Pellechia can call herself a SUNYAC Champion. Pellechia cleared 3.50m to take the outdoor title at the SUNYAC Meet on Friday.
