On May 4, the Social Work Program held its annual End‑of‑Year Celebration in the Williams Center to honor graduating seniors.

The event brought together campus leadership, students, and social work field educators to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating cohort.

President Stephen H. Kolison Jr., Dean Andy Karafa, and Dr. Josie Diebold, who serves as Social Work Program Director, offered welcoming remarks.

The program included the presentation of student awards, including the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) New York Western Division Student of the Year Award, which was awarded to Makayla Mohrman. The honor recognizes a graduating senior who exemplifies excellence in social work through strong academic performance, outstanding practicum work, and meaningful engagement in campus life through leadership, service, and the arts. The award also acknowledges a student who consistently demonstrates generosity, collaboration, and support for their peers.

Additional graduating seniors also received peer‑nominated awards, highlighting the unique strengths and standout qualities of each member of the cohort.

The celebration concluded with a poster session, during which graduating students presented on their practicum placements and shared research related to the social issues impacting the individuals and communities they served.
