“A Falling Loop” is a musical composition by composer Miles Jefferson Friday which was given its live world premiere performance by the Fredonia Guitar Ensemble in Rosch Recital Hall on April 21, 2022, while the composer was in-residence at Fredonia.

The performance by the quartet can be viewed online.

The project went beyond the live performance, though. The recorded parts by the Fredonia guitar students, along with recordings by over 40 guitarists from Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Germany, Malaysia, Mexico, Serbia and the United Kingdom, were incorporated into the soundtrack for the eventual experimental animated film of the same name by Ida Lasic.

The film is currently being submitted for selection to international film festivals, and can be viewed online

“A Falling Loop” is also the title of a multimedia production created as a means to strengthen the global community, engage Midwest rural communities and to pair animation with new music to make new art more accessible to audiences. More information is available online.
