The State University of New York Athletic Conference selected Abby Szymkowiak of the women's soccer team as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Szymkowiak was in goal for 180 minutes over two games without allowing any goals. Most of her work came in a 0-0 draw against Brockport when she stopped 13 shots on goal. She was less busy in a 6-0 win over Canton when she made only one save.
Szymkowiak joins fellow goaltender Casy Fetzner as Defensive Players of the Week selections by the conference.
