Volleyball playoff berth bright spot of weekend

For the second straight day the Fredonia State Women's Volleyball Team (10-10, 6-3 SUNYAC) dropped a 3-0 decision on the road. Despite the 0-2 weekend, the Blue Devils clinched a spot in the SUNYAC Postseason Tournament.
 
Fredonia's conference slate has come to a close, but most of the SUNYAC has yet to conclude conference play. The Blue Devils' seeding will be determined after the conclusion of conference play.
 
Brockport (14-6, 5-2 SUNYAC) earned the win by way of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-13 set scores.
 
The Blue Devils couldn't get their attack going, combining for a .045 hitting percentage on the day. The home team put together a .342 hitting percentage along with 41 kills.
 
Christie Ackendorf (Amherst, N.Y.) led the team in kills with five and had a hitting percentage of .273.
 
Kourtney Krchniak (Lockport) recorded the only assists for the Blue Devils, registering 15 on the day.
 
Selena Brown (Queens) was excellent defensively, recording five blocks. Sierra Keim (Shinglehouse, Pa.) added a team-high eight digs.
 
Fredonia State returns to action on Saturday, October 23rd when they host a tri-match with Hilbert and Case Western Reserve.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.

After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Cara Pellechia finished fourth in the 100m dash, and also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 200m for the top two finishes for the Fredonia State women's track and field team.
