Significant grant awarded to Fredonia institute to increase visibility of Black, Latinx composers
The Institute for Composer Diversity (ICD), based at the Fredonia School of Music, has been chosen as a recipient of a $100,000 Sphinx Venture Fund (SVF) grant for 2021. The Detroit-based social justice organization is dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in the arts.
Composition student wins New Voices essay contest
John Carroll, a Music Composition student at Fredonia, was awarded first place in New Voices, a national essay contest hosted by I Care If You Listen, an award-winning blog and digital magazine devoted to contemporary classical music, and 21CM.com. Sierra Wojtczack, also a Music Composition student, won second place.
