Academic interests and majors

  • College of Arts & Humanities: 1,880 students (1,810 undergraduates and 70 graduate students)
  • College of Education: 807 students (623 undergraduates and 184 graduate students)
  • College of Natural & Social Sciences: 2,029 students (1,951 undergraduates and 78 graduate students)
  • Continuing Education: 17 students (all undergraduates)
  • General Studies: 384 (all undergraduates)
  • Interdisciplinary Studies: 273 students (262 undergraduates and 11 graduate students)
  • School of Business: 610 students (608 undergraduates and 2 graduate students)  
  • School of Music: 555 students (513 undergraduates and 42 graduate students)

 Living on campus

  • A total of 2,550 (50.4 percent) of undergraduates live in the residence halls and .03 percent of graduate students do.  
  • Of all residence hall students, 40 percent are freshmen, 34.8 percent are sophomores, 17.5 percent are juniors and 7.4 percent are seniors. 
     
  • Most SUNY Fredonia students carry a full-time course load (91.8 percent).  Among undergraduates, 94.9 percent are full-time. Among graduate students, 47.6 percent are full-time. Note: full-time at the graduate level is nine or more semester credit hours and at the undergraduate level is 12 or more.

Geographic Origins

  • Approximately two-thirds of Fredonia undergraduates come from one of six New York state counties (Erie--23.7 percent; Chautauqua--19 percent; Monroe—13 percent, Cattaraugus--4 percent; Niagara--3.6 percent; Onondaga--3.3 percent) .
     
  • Slightly less than 85 percent of Fredonia’s graduate students come from one of four New York state counties (Chautauqua-– 48.9 percent; Erie--23.4 percent; Cattaraugus – 8.2 percent, Monroe – 4 percent) .
     
  • 109 students (101 undergraduates) come from some other U.S. state, with another 67 students (65 undergraduates) coming from one of 15 different foreign countries.

  • Total Freshmen: 1,181 (23.4 percent of all undergraduates; 21.9 percent of total Fall 2006 enrollment)
  • Total Sophomores: 1,196 (23.7 percent of all undergraduates; 22.2 percent of total Fall 2006 enrollment)
