The Flutasia Flute Ensemble will perform an eclectic mix of music, including a world premiere of a composition by award-winning composer Christina Brice Dolanc, on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall.

The ensemble is directed by Dr. Susan Royal, professor of flute and head of the Woodwind Area in the School of Music. Dr. Royal noted that Ms. Dolanc, who lives in Erie, Pa., arranged the work, originally for choir, for flute ensemble as a commission at the request of Royal. Dolanc is expected to attend the concert.

The group of 18 flute players and a string bass player will also perform Brazilian and Chinese music, representing the home countries of two of the ensemble members who will introduce the work in their native language. Also on the program is a virtuosic work by Amaya, “Birdhouse.”
