Fredonia’s School of Music Wind Ensemble and Saxophone Ensemble have been selected to perform at the New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) annual winter conference.

The concert will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 8:15 p.m. in the Lilac Ballroom of the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

The 50-member Wind Ensemble will be conducted by Dr. Paula Holcomb in John Leszczynski’s “Scherzo à la Britten” and the first and last movements of Joseph Turrin’s “Hemispheres.” The Saxophone Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Wildy Zumwalt, will perform Steve Reich’s “New York Counterpoint,” arranged by Daniel Espinoza and featuring 12 Fredonia saxophonists.

Fredonia School of Music faculty and students attend the conference each year, and many Fredonia faculty present workshops and clinics at the three-day event. In addition, the School of Music hosts an Alumni Reception each year during the Winter Conference for all Fredonia alums attending the conference.
