Lawlor brothers to be remembered during Homecoming soccer game

Christine Davis Mantai

Alumni, friends and family have joined together to create a soccer program endowment in memory of twin brothers and former soccer players James Lawlor, '73, of Sayville, NY, and Dr. Michael R. Lawlor, '74, of St. Augustine, FL.  Both played soccer for the Blue Devils and were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994 (Mike) and 1995 (Jim).

A memorial presentation to the family will be made during half-time of the Men's Soccer game which starts at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, in the new University Stadium.  Representing the Lawlor families will be Jim and Mike's mother, Mrs. Mechalina Lawlor; Jim's widow, Marcia (Shepard) Lawlor, '73; their brother, Dan, and Mike’s son, Matthew.

Also, a table with information on the Jim and Mike Lawlor Soccer Endowment will be located at the stadium from 1 to 5 p.m. for anyone wishing to make a donation. Information about the endowment will also be available at the registration area of the Hall of Fame Dinner.
