Math Department’s ‘American Pidol’ adds up to fun

More than 50 students, cast in 13 different acts, performed at “American Pidol,” the SUNY Fredonia Math Department’s unique twist on the popular television show.   “We had a great time,” Dr. Keary Howard, associate professor of Mathematical Sciences, said of the March 14 talent show enjoyed by more than 200 fellow students at McEwen Hall.  “Keyline Pi,” a three-member song/rap team, won the top trophy, the Picup. Another memorable act featured 10 freshmen performing their own version of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” that was modified to reflect a math theme.  “It’s a great way for the math department to get together and celebrate that we’re three-quarters of the way through the academic year, and there’s only one-quarter of the year to go,” Dr. Howard said.
