Orchesis Dance Company will present “Tombé” on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. The annual show will feature many talented Fredonia student dancers and choreographers performing various genres of dance including modern, jazz and tap.

The company's performance will feature pieces from this semester's guest choreographers, Andrij "AJ" Deneka and Jenna Del Monte. Mr. Deneka, originally from Buffalo, currently resides in New York City. While continuing to pursue his passion for dance, he is currently obtaining a degree in fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Deneka has worked with many well-known artists including Stevie Wonder, Selena Gomez and Kylie Minogue and holds credits with the MTV Movie Awards, The TV Land Awards, Wella, Nike and the International Dance Festival.

Ms. Del Monte holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from SUNY Potsdam, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography from Florida State University. Currently, she is a faculty member of the SUNY Potsdam Department of Dance and works as a freelance performer and choreographer.

Orchesis, a student- run dance organization, allows members to fulfill themselves through dance by facilitating creative and imaginative works, working collaboratively with student and guest choreographers while strengthening their talents. The company was founded in 1967 by Carol Prevet, a professor emeritus of dance at Fredonia, and continues to be one of the largest Student Association constituted, and highly-recognized, organizations on campus nearly 40 years later.

Doors for “Tombé” will open 30 minutes prior to show time and tickets can be purchased before the performance through the Fredonia Ticket Office located in the Williams Center, as well as at the event. Tickets are $3 for students and $7 for general admission. Attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance, and all campus and community members are invited to attend.

For more information on the company and the performance, please contact Lauren Orlowski, vice president of Orchesis Dance Company, at orlo2485@fredonia.edu.
