U.S. flag half mastThe staff of the Daniel A. Reed Library invites all who are interested to join them on Friday, Sept. 11, for “Meet Me in the Stairwell,” a remembrance for those lost in the terror attacks eight years ago on that day.

Interested participants are asked to assemble at 8:15 a.m. starting at the fourth floor of the Carnahan-Jackson Center Atrium stairway, and continuing down into the main area of the library. Director of Library Services Randy Gadikian will say a few words and ask for a moment of silence at 8:45 a.m. to honor all those lives lost and the heroic rescue teams involved. A “hand squeeze” ceremony will then be passed from one person to another down the stairwell from the fourth floor to the first.

Photos and a timeline of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, will be featured in the Atrium and all attendees will receive a red, white and blue ribbon pin.
