The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs at Fredonia have been housed in four different buildings. This will change with the renovation of Houghton Hall which is connected to our new Science Center. The unified complex is known as the Fredonia Science Complex.

The Science Complex will be completed in two phases beginning with the construction of the Fredonia Science Center followed by the renovation of Houghton Hall. The entire complex will be 188,000 square feet.

The new Science Center is 92,000 square feet and cost $60M. The Science Center construction broke ground in late summer of 2011 and opened in Fall 2014. The Center houses the Departments of Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry and the Environmental Science and Science Education Programs. In addition to funds for construction, $4.2M was spent on new scientific equipment for these programs making them some of the best equipped in the state.

The renovation of Houghton Hall is completed!  See the building's transformation here.
