Dr. Katherine M. Levy is a Professor of Music Education and the Music Education Area at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in music education from the University of Iowa and an undergraduate music education degree from Northwestern University. She has taught beginning, middle and high school instrumental music in Illinois and Wisconsin, early childhood music in Iowa and Maryland, and adult instrumental music and music educator preparation in Iowa, Maryland and New York. She co-authored Introduction and Practical Guide to Music Education published by Cognella. Dr. Levy researches music rhythm reading and perception, community music, and lifelong music learning. She is an active conductor and clinician. Her professional affiliations include NAfME:The National Association for Music Education, New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), New Horizons International Music Association (NHIMA), and the Society for Research in Music Education (SRME).
