Actress and director Judith Ivey to lead theatre master classes
Judith Ivey, a Tony Award-winning actress and veteran stage director, will conduct a series of master classes with Fredonia theatre students on Wednesday through Friday, March 22-24.
Ms. Ivey will also be on stage for “Conversations with Judith Ivey,” a program of conversation and introspection hosted by her brother, Fredonia Theatre Professor James Ivey, at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House on March 24 at 7:30 p.m.
A versatile character actress, Ivey has performed on stage, in film and on television for more than 40 years. She won Tony Awards for “Hurlyburly,” for Best Actress in a Featured Role, and “Steaming,” for Best Featured Actress in a Play, and was also nominated for two more Tony Awards and an Emmy Award. Her Broadway credits also include “Follies,” “Blithe Spirit,” “Precious Sons” and “The Heiress.” Ivey starred in the off-Broadway production of “The Glass Menagerie.”
Ivey’s television credits include “The Devil’s Advocate,” “Flags of Our Fathers,” “White Collar” and “The Woman in Red.” She also is known for her role of B.J. Poteet in the popular television series, “Designing Women.”
Tickets to the opera house talk, part of the DFT Communications Spotlight Series, with support from the Carnahan Jackson Humanities Fund of the Fredonia College Foundation, are $25 for general admission, $20 for opera house members and $10 for students.
