Alumni honor late friend with Memorial Homecoming Race

Along with retired Coach James Ulrich (above left), alumni organized a 5K special event in honor of the late Fred Ruterbusch, '77, during Homecoming recently. Mr. Ruterbusch was the first All-American in track and field history at Fredonia, and also set a record for the javelin throw. He is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Memorial 5K Run in honor of Fred raised funds to support the track and field program and to install a bench in his memory alongside the outdoor track.

Above, holding a memorial plaque, are Fred's survivors--his wife, Kathy, and son, Michael.

Below, racers loosened up in the Homecoming Fun Run
(1 mile around the track).
