Nick Abdo was named the SUNYAC Male Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

The West Valley, N.Y. native finished first in the 200-meter dash and posted NCAA Regional qualifying times in the 200- and 60-meter events. He also was part of the 1600-meter squad that secured a regional qualifying time.

The qualifying marks took place at the RIT event held on Friday, Jan. 27.

In the 60m, Abdo turned in identical times of 7.10 during the prelims and finals to finish second in the event, while he posted a winning mark of 22.58 in the 200 meters. Both times were personal bests.

Abdo finished the night by helping his 1600m relay team to a victory with a time of 3:25.24 – more than two seconds faster than runner-up RIT.

The Fredonia State men's track and field team had a strong showing this weekend at Westminster. The meet featured a number of Division I, II, and III schools. Cameron Sample had the top individual performance, a fourth place in the triple jump, and the 4x100 relay team took first place.
