SUNY Fredonia’s Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences recently conducted its annual fall Continuing Education Conference.

Ninety professionals, including local speech-language pathologists, classroom teachers and occupational therapists, attended to advance their understanding and use of Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC).

The course, facilitated by Tobii Dynavox, focused on TD Snap, a communication program to support individuals with complex communication needs. The session highlighted TD Snap’s user-friendly editing and customization tools, which allow for flexible and efficient communication across a range of age groups and abilities.

Additionally, participants explored communication features and practical strategies for implementing TD Snap in various settings, along with free, timesaving resources to assist with AAC device funding. The course also reviewed tools to support assessment, trialing and daily communication using AAC systems.

The event emphasized how approachable and effective AAC implementation can be when the right supports and resources are in place.
