Cestra named to baseball All Tournament Team

Sophomore pitcher Sam Cestra was named to the SUNYAC All Tournament Team on Monday. Cestra tossed nine shut out innings against regular-season champion Cortland before allowing a two-out run in the tenth of a 1-0 loss. Cortland had not been shut out since 2012.

Fredonia qualified as the No. 3 seed in the tournament, falling to eventual conference champions Oswego, 5-3, in the opening game.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.

Cortland Classic wrap up

After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Cara Pellechia finished fourth in the 100m dash, and also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 200m for the top two finishes for the Fredonia State women's track and field team.
