Devils fall short of post-season berth

The Fredonia State women's tennis team wrapped up its season with a 6-3 loss to Plattsburgh State in SUNYAC action at the Binghamton Tennis Center on Sunday.
 
The Blue Devils finish the 2019 campaign at 10-4 overall (3-4 SUNYAC), while the Cardinals finished the year at 7-6 overall (3-4 SUNYAC).
 
The Devils, Cardinals, and Cortland finished the SUNYAC schedule in a three-way tie for fourth place. Cortland claimed the fourth and final spot in the SUNYAC Tournament based on tiebreakers. Cortland defeated Plattsburgh, 9-0, back on Sept. 20, while Fredonia topped Cortland, 6-3, on Sept. 27.

Fredonia State won two singles matches, with No. 2 Sarah Bunk prevailing with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, and Mikayla Johnson won at No. 3 with scores of 6-3, 6-0.

Bunk and Johnson also claimed the team's lone doubles with at No. 2, dropping their foes, 8-3.

The Fredonia State men's track and field team had a strong showing this weekend at Westminster. The meet featured a number of Division I, II, and III schools. Cameron Sample had the top individual performance, a fourth place in the triple jump, and the 4x100 relay team took first place.
