The student food pantry on campus is opening the door wider for the last three weeks of the fall semester, perhaps in the nick of time, to accommodate students who may find themselves running low on food or meal plan points.

A second pantry location, in the LoGrasso Hall vestibule, has opened. It will operate Monday through Friday, beginning Dec. 3, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Williams Center food pantry, located at the information desk outside of Tim Hortons, remains open seven days a week, 5 to 11 p.m., and on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to noon. Perishable items such as breads, muffins, pastries and rolls are offered on Wednesday. The Clarence Community Food Bank, which has donated items throughout the semester, recently added coats, hats and gloves.

The student food pantry is seeking donations from the campus community to help replenish its shelves. Sought-after non-perishable items include: cereal, oatmeal, granola bars, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, soup, ramen noodles, applesauce, shelf-stable Jello pudding, ravioli, pasta dinners, canned vegetables and pasta and sauce. Single-servings are preferred.

Toiletry items, such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo and toilet paper, are also being requested.

Donations can be dropped off at the Campus Life office in the Williams Center or LoGrasso Hall. The food pantry is supported by the Student Health Center, Counseling Center and Office of Campus Life.

For those interested in saving a few steps and ordering donations through Amazon or other online vendors, donations can be sent to: State University of New York at Fredonia, Student Health Center, LoGrasso Hall, Fredonia, NY 14063.

Monetary donations to support the food pantry can be made to the Fredonia College Foundation.

Students who are need of a meal, have no money or points to buy food and cannot get to the food pantry during regular hours should send an email to health.center@fredonia.edu to receive assistance.
