The Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Rudge, will perform the rarely heard, but exciting preclassical "Adagio and Fugue" by Franz Richter, at a concert in Rosch Recital Hall on Monday, Dec. 2, at 8 p.m.

Jessica Tong, a new member of the School of Music faculty, will play Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, widely considered one of the most lyrical and flowing works of its type.

Lauded for her "lyrical intensity" (Baltimore Sun) and her "performances to remember" (Woodstock Times), Ms. Tong has garnered international acclaim as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. A recipient of the Canada Council Grant for Professional Musicians and the David Ouchterloney Award for Most Promising Young Artist, she is also a DAAD Scholar and has also been a top prizewinner at the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition, the Toronto Symphony, Canadian Music and Yellow Springs International Chamber Music Competitions.

The program will conclude with Johannes Brahms’ Serenade No. 2, considered a masterpiece of writing in that form.

The concert is free and open to the public.
