Fredonia presents Custodial Safety Incentive Awards

Awards were presented to members of the Custodial Services staff at the 18th Custodial Services Awards Recognition Luncheon held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the Williams Center.
More than 75 people, including high-level administrators, attended the annual program that recognizes individual recipients of Custodial Safety Incentive Awards as well as their colleagues throughout the Custodial Services division for their hard work and dedication.
Vice President for Finance and Administration Michael Metzger said the luncheon provides an opportunity for the university to express its gratitude for the hard work and dedication of Custodial Services employees.
“Our faculty, staff, students and visitors appreciate the work that you do for us every day,” Mr. Metzger said.
Sarah Laurie, director of Environmental Health and Safety and Sustainability, indicated the recognition extends beyond acknowledging these employees for the routine duties and tasks that they complete. “It’s in the way you take pride in your work and the way that you care deeply for the people who live and work in these buildings,” Ms. Laurie said.
It’s important to have employees who not only take on any challenge but go above and beyond to ensure the comfort and safety of those who live and work on campus, Laurie said.
Individual recipients, building assignments and awards included:
Robert Jank – Fredonia Technology Incubator – no chocked doors;
Hector Figueroa, Kathy Stempkowski and Linda Saletta – Gregory Hall – proper bulb storage;
Wayne Seabolt, Jean Worosz, Jeff Deering and Chris Brunecz – Science Center – proper chemical labeling.
Selection of award recipients is selected based on results of twice-a-year building inspections conducted by Kevin Cloos, director of Facilities Services; Mark Delcamp, assistant director of Custodial Services; Tim Lillie, head janitor of Custodial Services; Kathy Forster, director of Residence Life, and Laurie. Residence hall directors or building safety coordinators and janitors and their supervisors also participate in the inspections.
Award certificates and $25 gift certificates were presented to the recipients.
Also recognized at the luncheon by Metzger were past recipients of the annual Outstanding Administrative Service Award, beginning in 2003: David Renckens , Mary Abers, Vince Chillemi, Dan Pleszewski, Randy Goodemote, Mary Lecklite, Darlene Miller, Lee Szalkowski, Sue Smith, Gladys Lockett, Jorge Rosa, Sue Valentine, Iris Rosa, Bob Miller, Nick Valentine and Linda Nixon.
