Lee, Witman are AHCA All-American Scholars

Two Fredonia State rising sophomores are among the 2019-20 list of Krampade All American Scholars announced Tuesday by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

Gregg Lee; a Business major from Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Bryce Witman, a Sport Management major from Reading, Pa., were recognized Tuesday for attaining a 3.70 grade-point average or higher and participating in at least 40 percent of games played.

"These are exceptional individuals," AHCA Executive Director Joe Bertagna said. "The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."

Lee attained a 3.74 GPA while appearing in 17 games. He is the son of Jody and Gregg Lee and is a 2016 graduate of Aliso Niguel High School. He played junior hockey with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Wittman appeared in 20 games and recorded a 3.73 GPA. A 2016 graduate of Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa., he is the son of Dale and Dana Witman and a former junior player with the New Jersey Titans of the North American Hockey League.

The Fredonia State baseball team extended its win streak to four games with 10-4 and 5-4 wins over visiting Hilbert College on Monday. Christian Pagano connected for a two-run homerun in Game 1, his third in as many games. Alex Gannon added a two-run blast of his own in the opener.

Day 2 results at Cortland

The 4x100 relay team took third place, and turned in a AARTFC qualifying time on the second day of the Cortland Classic on Saturday. Jacob Winn -- a member of the relay team -- also turned in a third place in the finals of the 100m dash.

After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Cara Pellechia finished fourth in the 100m dash, and also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 200m for the top two finishes for the Fredonia State women's track and field team.
