A pair of track athletes were named the Fredonia State Male and Female Athletes of the Week on Monday.

Sprinter Jordan Lockett got off to a fast start, and reigning SUNYAC Champion in the pole vault, Cara Pellechia, took first place in her top event, and also had a strong showing in the 60m dash.

Lockett finished first in the 200m and second in the 60m dash at Houghton on Friday. In a field of 53 runners, Locket crossed the line in a time of 22.14 seconds in the 200. In the 60, he timed out at 6.91, two slots behind the winning time of time of 6.85 seconds. Lockett also competed in the 4x200 relay team that placed third in a four-team field in a time of 1:37.01.

Pellechia took first place in the pole vault, clearing 3.50m. Pellechia was fifth out of 43 runners in a time of 8.07 seconds in the 60m dash.

  • Other Notables:
    Leah Marsh was named the SUNYAC Women's Diver of the Week. She scored a 232.80 off the 1m board, then put up a score of 248.18 off the 3m board. She took first place in both events when the Devils took on Genesee Community College on Saturday.
  • Grace Alexander averaged 15.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in a pair of games for the Blue Devils. She shot 12-26 (46 percent) from the field, and connected on six three pointers. In a 61-51 loss to Plattsburgh, she had 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. In a 70-48 win over Potsdam, she collected 19 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.
  • Keenan McNeill collected three points in a pair of games for the men's hockey team this past weekend. In a 4-3 overtime loss to Plattsburgh, he had a goal and an assist. The next night, he scored the Devils' only goal in a 4-1 loss to Skidmore.
  • Stevie Williams led the men's basketball team with 25 points, including the go-ahead basket in overtime as the Devils defeated Potsdam, 77-73, on Saturday.
