The Department of Communication has announced the upcoming induction of eight students into Lambda Pi Eta.

Fredonia’s chapter is Alpha Beta Epsilon, and the organization is the National Communication Association’s honor society.

As an accredited member of the Association of College Honor Societies, Lambda Pi Eta recognizes academic excellence and professional commitment among four-year college and university communication students nationwide.

To be eligible, students must major in one of the Department of Communication’s five programs, complete at least 60 credit hours, and maintain an overall GPA of 3.0, with a 3.25 GPA in all communication courses.

Inductees for 2026 include:

  • Alexander Bucknam, junior, majoring in Communication – Print and Online Journalism, from Perry, NY
  • Emma Christopher, senior, majoring in Communication – Public Relations and Music Industry, from Gowanda, NY
  • Madison DeVore, junior, majoring in Communication – Public Relations, from Caledonia, NY
  • Madison Gibbs, senior, majoring in Communication – Audio Production, from Tonawanda, NY
  • Annie Gondek, junior, majoring in Communication – Journalism, from Fredonia, NY
  • Gwenyth Kirkwood, junior, majoring in Communication – Broadcast Journalism, from Tonawanda, NY
  • Molly Sunick, senior, majoring in Communication – Public Relations, from Cherry Creek, NY
  • Brynn Wood, junior, majoring in Communication – Audio Production, from Great Valley, NY

The new members will be inducted by Chapter President Matthew Volz, Vice President Rachel Bayer, and faculty advisor Dr. Angela McGowan-Kirsch at the Department of Communication’s senior send-off on Wednesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. in the Williams Center’s Horizon Room.

“Lambda Pi Eta represents the very best of our students — those who are dedicated to academic excellence, leadership, and the study of communication,” said Dr. McGowan-Kirsch, who is an associate professor in the Department of Communication. “We are excited to celebrate these students’ achievements and to see how they will contribute to our field in the future.”
